This weekend sees the opening of the V&A –   one of the most eye-catching public buildings of recent years.

Culture can be a catalyst for social transformation in any city and with the energy this rejuvenation brings, comes a thriving hub that has grown over the last five years.

People always came from Dundee, now they are moving to Dundee.  It has had a troubled history of social decline and social problems but times have changed.

“..the arrival of the V&A can be nothing but ‘extremely positive’ “, says Samantha Paton who runs her fashion brand Isolated Heroes in a studio in a converted jute mill.  She is surrounded by up and coming new businesses which is finally putting Dundee ‘on the map’

The latest data from the Office of National Statistics shows that prices in Dundee increased by 1.5% in May, contributing to a 5.4% rise over the last 12 months. Their information is compiled using house sale information from the Land Registry.

This is at a time when regional forecasts predict price falls in London in 2018 of 1.7%.
