The West End
Within walking distance of both Universities and the city centre, there are plenty of good restaurants, bars and shops in this sought-after area.
City Centre
Ideal for shops, restaurants, bars and transport hubs ie railway and bus station.
Lochee
A town within Dundee with shops, pubs and cafés, Lochee is currently benefitting from investment and improvement by the council. The Dundee Megabowl is nearby, and cinemas and ice rink are a short bus ride away.
Hilltown
More affordable, very close to the town centre and shops.
Broughty Ferry
An upmarket town which is a suburb of Dundee, a 5-10 minute drive from the centre of the city. It boasts an award winning beach, nice restaurants and shops, and a railway station. Many Dundee professionals live in Broughty Ferry, as well as lots of elderly people and families.
Forfar
A sleepy farming town with shops and cafés a 20-minute drive from Dundee. A bit smaller than St Andrews.
Carnoustie
A reasonably touristy seaside town with an older population. Carnoustie golf course is used annually for the Dunhill Golf Championship.
Montrose
Close to Aberdeen for commuting for oil and gas, but not as expensive. It has a commercial harbour and busy high street. Upmarket rents. 30 – 40 minutes from Dundee.
Douglas
Council Estate/Housing Estates. Not many flats. Close to retail park and cinemas and large gym.
St Andrews
St Andrews is a small town around 20 minutes from Dundee, famously known as the “Home of Golf”. In total there are seven world-famous golf courses, attracting large numbers of tourists. Due to the University there is a large student population. The town centre is within walking distance of the entire town.
